I had a bit of a “brain blast” this morning (quoting Jimmy Neutron there… real cool). I realized that I was misusing and under utilizing another tremendous web tool: del.icio.us

You see, for some reason I am always a bit resistant to change. Ask my wife – she has to move all the furniture in the house when I’m out for the day because I can’t deal with it. I’m comfortable the way it is, so why change it?

Well, this is essentially what happened with me and several web applications (including RSS feeds and their readers). Now, this morning, as I was manually adding links to my “Resources” page and facing the daunting concept of having to open WordPress, nav to Manage > Pages > Edit “Resources” every time I wanted to add a cool new article or site…

While I was doing this, I was thinking “Man, it sure would be nice if these were categorized since I have so many topics to cover here” which led me to “It would also be nice when I found a page I like I could just click a link and add the title, address, and a category – and of course if the category wasn’t there, I could just add it quickly…”

… and then I stopped because I just described del.icio.us

Now, thanks to del.icio.us and FeedBurner I have the ability to add real content to several of my sites just by reading my regular blog roll via RSS every morning. I had struggled for a long time about how to get the right article links to the right site … and thanks to “tags” on del.icio.us I can now do that.

Sorry for the rambling nature of the post… I had too much coffee.
