The internet has to be free. We can not let service providers bully their way in to getting paid by ISP’s to deliver faster content “because the customers want it”.
All this can do is create entrenched internet media titans akin to broadcast networks whose power is unquestionable – and forces new media creators to seek out these juggernauts to get their media out, thereby creating some oversight/editorial process that will kill the essence of what the internet really is.
The internet is freedom. The internet is the ability to get the word out to millions of people with the click of a mouse.

1But don’t you know that if ANY medium smells the least bit of money being made on the internet, they’ll be all over it like ravenous dogs! They want it all for themselves!
The internet is not freedom though… it’s a service. Always has been, always will be. Just ask the creators of NetZero who now charge for access to the net.
Over the course of time, the Internet has become cheap, and a place where people have the freedom to get “the word” out to millions of people. But it’s not always (or usually) a good thing with people that think they’re writing on the internet because it’s their freedom or right to do so.
I do however agree with Net Neutrality because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to read leecoursey.net!
Just sparking some thought and checking in on ya!
Take care and have a happy holiday!

2Just so we’re clear, I was talking “free” as in deregulated and not controlled by the media elite, not “free” as in costs nothing.
